Titus County Sheriff's Department
Titus County was organized July 13, 1846, with Mount Pleasant as the county seat. All records we have been able to locate indicate that the Titus County Sheriff's Department was probably the county's only law enforcement agency from 1846 until the City of Mount Pleasant was incorporated in 1900, when they appointed a City Marshal.
The story of the Titus County Sheriff's Department is a long one, and will require lots of time to fully research. Therefore, we were unable to complete this section and will be bringing various aspects of the history of the Titus County Sheriff's Department on line in random order as we complete the necessary articles.
