Titus County Radio Stations
Robert & Mary Turner's A Glimpse of Titus County, Texas History
Before 1948, Titus County residents listened to radio stations from the Dallas-Ft. Worth area like WFAA and WBAP or Shreveport, Louisiana's KWKH because there was no local station.  Home-town radio arrived in Mt. Pleasant in 1948 with Radio Station KIMP-AM.

In the 1980s, the FCC loosened their licensing regulations, which allowed smaller FM broadcast stations to enter the local market.  Some of these were KXAL in the Blodgett community and KKYR in Winfield, Texas, which later became KLAK.

We are still researching the radio station topic, and it will require considerable time to complete.  We will continue the story of KIMP and will add other radio stations as time permits.
